13 December 2016 – For the winter edition 2016 (#4) of See All This, the quarterly magazine of the art platform with the same name, the photographer Johannes Schwartz put together a photo report entitled ‘De schatkamer van Nederland’ (The Dutch Treasure Chamber), displaying the wealth and diversity of objects in the depots of the Dutch museums. See All This also asked the RKD to open up its Mondrian archives.
As part of a series on the hidden treasures in the depots of Dutch museums photographer Johannes Schwartz photographed the private archive of artist Piet Mondrian for the magazine See All This. This archive was acquired in 2012 by the RKD – Netherlands Institute for Art History from an American private research institute and contains dozens of letters from and to Mondrian, a theoretical text by Mondrian on the future of art education, his address list, horoscope and various unique studio and portrait photographs. The photo series of Johannes Schwarz is published on the See All This website.
